Power Of Prayer

At Soul Food Unity Ministry we follow the tradition of the Fillmores in working on a tithe and love offering basis. About this they said, “Many people pride themselves on giving their services expecting nothing in return. This is error. It attracts a pauper mentality.” (Unity, January 1902)

The Fillmores believed in and practiced what they called spiritual reciprocity defined as the reciprocal exchange of values. The receiver is expected to give, in return for valuable spiritual information and inspiration received, that which he or she counts as valuable.

Prayer is the language of spirituality and improves the quality of our being. At Soul Food Unity Ministry, the method we will use in praying with you is called affirmative prayer. In our practice of affirmative prayer, we deliberately choose statements of truth about the good you need and desire to see demonstrated. We concentrate on that truth and speak it with faith and power. Throughout the day we continue our prayer work by not thinking or speaking about unwanted conditions. We hold the truth for you until it unfolds in perfect ways in your life.
